Rosemary Beach
460 miles from downtown Nashville · about 8 to 8.5 hours
Walton County, FL, the easternmost 30A town before Inlet Beach
Rosemary Beach was founded in 1995 and planned by the same firm that planned Seaside, but it looks nothing like it. The references are the French Quarter and West Indies colonial building: deep second and third floor porches, shuttered openings, dark stained wood, brick and cobbled streets, and a dense grid of narrow pedestrian boardwalks running between the buildings.

Permits, fees and access
There is no public beach access inside Rosemary Beach. The walkovers belong to the town and run on gate codes and wristbands for owners and renters. The two county accesses closest to town, Wall Street at 264 South Wall Street and Winston Lane at 188 Winston Lane, are walk-up with no parking. Where a day visitor parks is the Inlet Beach Regional Beach Access about a mile east, three free lots: Central at 139 South Orange Street with fifty spaces and restrooms, West at 435 West Park Place Avenue with fifty, and East at 118 West Park Place with ten to twelve. Inlet Beach also has eighteen parcels covered by the October 2024 customary use ruling. Rosemary Beach parcels were not among the ninety five.

One thing to know first
The pools, the fitness center and the eight Har-Tru clay courts at the Racquet Club are owner and renter amenities. A day visitor cannot use them, and that surprises people who have driven eight hours. If the point of the trip is walking out of your door onto the sand, this is a town to rent inside rather than visit. See Miramar Beach for the Walton County transitory zone, flags and fines.
Access rules, fees and closures verified August 18, 2026 against the agency that manages this place. They change, sometimes without notice. Check before you drive.
The neighborhoods closest to it
If this is the kind of Saturday you want a short drive from your front door, these are the parts of Middle Tennessee that put you nearest to it.
I keep this list because it is genuinely how people spend weekends here, and because almost every guide to it is out of date. If you are weighing a move to Middle Tennessee and want to know which part of it puts you closest to the things you actually like, ask me. No pitch.
