Granville

68 miles from downtown Nashville · about 1 hour 15 minutes

Jackson County, TN, on the Cumberland River

Granville is a restored Cumberland River town run by more than two hundred volunteers that markets itself, without irony, as Tennessee’s Mayberry Town. It has an 1880s general store with live bluegrass and a museum devoted to I Love Lucy.

Permits, fees and access

A seven dollar pass covers everything. Read the hours twice: Granville is closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, which is the single most common way this trip goes wrong.

One thing to know first

Closed three days a week. Driving an hour and fifteen minutes on a Monday to find a shut town is an easy mistake and an avoidable one.

Access rules, fees and closures verified August 15, 2026 against the agency that manages this place. They change, sometimes without notice. Check before you drive.

I keep this list because it is genuinely how people spend weekends here, and because almost every guide to it is out of date. If you are weighing a move to Middle Tennessee and want to know which part of it puts you closest to the things you actually like, ask me. No pitch.
